2015 PokerStars TCOOP to Start January 22

The MiniFTOPS XXVII has already started over on Full Tilt Poker, and while that is most certainly cool, PokerStars’ Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) is probably the first big tournament series of 2015 that players are really looking forward to. This will be the fourth iteration of the now annual year-opener for Stars, which will run January 22nd through February 1st.

The 2015 TCOOP will boast 50 events with a combined $15 million in guaranteed prize money. As the name of the series would imply, all of the tournaments will feature Turbo or Super Turbo blind levels. No-Limit Hold’em is the most common poker format, but there are many variations within that, like Zoom, short-handed, heads-up, re-entry, shootout, and knockout. Stud and Omaha varieties, as well as HORSE will also be featured on the schedule.

As one would expect with a big tournament series on PokerStars, there will be a leader board to keep track of which players do the best across all of the events of TCOOP. The top 100 finishers on the leader board will also win prizes. The overall winner, in addition to the honor of being known as the 2015 Turbo Championship of Online Poker PokerStars TCOOP Logochamp, will win an entry into the 2015 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Main Event (high buy-in level, worth $10,300) and a special Champion’s Trophy. The second place finisher will receive a $5,200 2015 SCOOP ticket and the third through fifth place finishers will get $2,100 2015 SCOOP tickets. The sixth through tenth place leader board finishers will win $1,050 tickets into the 2015 SCOOP medium buy-in Main Event, while the rest of the leader board…um…leaders will receive $109 tickets in the low buy-in 2015 SCOOP Main Event.

Everyone who plays in a TCOOP event and cashes will earn points, no matter how min-cashy their tournament goes. The winner of every tournament will receive 100 points and, generally, the points will go 80, 70, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, 35 (or 30) for the next eight spots. After that, it depends on the type of tournament.

Last year, “Riverlan_88” won the $700 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, banking $277,526.55. The $3 million prize pool blew away the $2 million guarantee and though there was $300,000 guaranteed for first prize, the champ sacrificed some prize money as part of a six-way chop. Denmark’s “blaaesh” actually won the most money, as he came away with $336,341.95 after the deal, but Riverlan_88 ended up beating him and “danish7” for the title.

Of course, this is PokerStars, so there are loads of satellites running every day for the various TCOOP events. Buy-ins start at just 11 cents or a single Frequent Player Point (FPP). Players who win a seat into an event will be automatically registered for said event, but may unregister and receive the buy-in in the form of tournament dollars (T$). Players who win multiple seats into the same event will receive the first seat and then be credited with the buy-in equivalent in T$ for any subsequent seat won.
