Full Tilt Poker Releases FTOPS XXVIII Schedule

Full Tilt Poker has released the schedule for the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) XXVIII, a two-week long march featuring 35 tournaments and $4 million in guaranteed prize pools. FTOPS XXVIII will begin on Sunday, March 15th and culminates with the $1,000 buy-in, $1 million Guaranteed Prize Pool Main Event on Sunday, March 29th.

Full Tilt is giving players a chance to sit down in the FTOPS Main Event for free through FTOPS XXVIII Main Event Freerolls. One Freeroll will be held each day from Monday, March 2nd through Friday, March 27th. Everyone who finishes in the top 100 of any of those gets a ticket into the Main Event Finale Freeroll, to be held on Saturday, March 28th. The top five finishers in the Finale get their tickets into the FTOPS Main Event.

FTOPS AvatarBack again for this go-round is also the FTOPS Satellite Hero promotion, rewarding players for cashing in events into which they gained entry via satellite. One cash earns players an FTOPS Satellite Hero Freeroll ticket. Two cashes earns a MiniFTOPS Main Event ticket. Three or four cashes is good enough for a MiniFTOPS Main Event ticket plus T$50, while more than that gets the ticket plus T$100. The aforementioned freeroll will be on Saturday, April 4th and will award 25 MiniFTOPS Main Event tickets.

And, as usual, there will be special prizes for doing exceedingly well in any FTOPS event. Those who make a final table will win a limited editions FTOPS jacket (Full Tilt says it could take a full year to arrive…seriously, just give me the cash equivalent). Each event winner will score a gold FTOPS jersey, a gold jersey Full Tilt Poker avatar, and the jacket (really, I would rather just have the cash value, as it will be more than the tax deduction I would get for donating the apparel).*

Then there is the FTOPS Leaderboard. Leaderboards are as old as time, so it is no secret how they work – score points based on tournament finishes. The reward for the top four finishes is really nice, though: a four month Black Card Pro Sponsorship. The big benefit of the sponsorship is 100 percent rakeback, a veritable gold mine for people who play a lot (Black Card sponsored players would fall into this category). They also earn double Full Tilt Points for the duration of the sponsorship.

* I don’t mean to belabor the point (yes, I do), but is there anyone in this day and age of online poker who would be excited to receive a Full Tilt jacket? I cannot imagine someone strutting around proudly with one of those. Back in the poker boom days, yeah, it was fun to get poker room swag. Online poker was up and coming. It was kind of cool. But now, not that it’s “uncool,” but wearing a poker jacket is just so cheesy (it was back then, too, but it was new and fun). And wearing one for a poker room that has history built on shame? Come on.
