GPI Announces 2020 Global Poker Awards Finalists

The Global Poker Index and parent company Mediarex Group have announced the list of finalists in 18 categories for the upcoming 2020 Global Poker Awards, to be presented in Las Vegas in early March. Each of the 18 categories’ four finalists remain following two earlier rounds of preliminary and intermediate voting, which featured as many as 25 initial nominees.

According to the GPI, the 18 categories and 72 finalist nominations represent 12 different countries (though they are again US-centric), along with 16 former award winners. Seven people have been named as finalists in more than one Global Poker Awards category, including Joey Ingram, Lance Bradley, Daniel Negreanu, Matt Savage, Jamie Kerstetter, Lex Veldhuis, and Hayley Hochstetler. Ingram, Negreanu, Savage, and Veldhuis are former GPA winners, and they join Ali Imsirovic, Andrew Neeme, Brad Owen, Bryn Kenney, Cary Katz, Joe Giron, Joe Stapleton, Kevin Mathers, Nick Schulman, Paul Campbell, Alex Foxen and Barny Boatman as 2020 category finalists.

These 18 categories (complete list of finalists) below, are among the 25 total categories for which winners will be honored on March 6. Included are two special categories — Poker Personality and Hand of the Year — which are decided by the public, and voting for those two categories remains open through January 31, 2020.
